WHO CARES
i have to go to court tomorrow.
i got a speeding ticket.
its been about 20 years since i have had one.
You will likely lose your license. Bring a copy of your driver's abstract. If you're lucky or if you get there real early you may be able to talk to the prosecutor before you're called up and make a deal. You could try and get a higher fine for a shorter suspension.
If that doesn't work and you lose your license, then hopefully you will slow down!
as many may be aware.
i don't like the man.
but i have chosen to review the first chapter of his book.. chapter 1... only a theory?.
I need Jaclyn Glenn in my life
conversation with elder.. m why do fds feel the need to quote a plymouth brethren elder, and add to his quote to support a teaching point?.
e what are you talking about.
m vine,,, you know vines dictionary quote paragraph 10 for this weeks consideration,,, i'll show you .
You pricked his cult phobias, that was a thought-stopping technique he used. If you were to push the issue his cult self would either run away or lash out at you.
the society has been teaching that you-know-what is right around the corner for so long that it's lost all credibility.
what are the expecations like now?
do people still expect it to happen very soon, or are more people planning on things like higher education?
Cold Steel: I hate the JWs as much as you do, but I find it irritating to see you making posts and observations about CREDIBILITY as a MORMON. Do you really think the general public thinks more highly of Mormons than JWs? Your religion MORE of a joke than JWs. How can you not see that?
i'm somewhat new here, even though i've posted a few times, so i decided it was time i properly introduced myself.
i've been lurking for several months.... .
i was born into the jw and served for 21 years.
Well I guess she isn't your girlfriend now is she! Sorry your exit was so messy, but congratulations on your freedom!

Umm no, sorry Kate. You might have to go read the chapter again. In your explanation, you would use the word hypothesis. A hypothesis is what you think might be proven by your research and experiments. Once it has become proven and can be repeatedly proven, you now have a theory.
A theory is as proven and true as it gets. There's no point in disagreeing with this explanation of the word, Kate. The entire purpose of the chapter is to show the difference in how the scientific community uses the word versus how YOU use it.
Tammy, gravity is theory.

Kate.. I fear you still misunderstand after 8 1/2 pages of explanation... His intent was to explain to the reader, who is a layperson how the word theory is used by the scientific community as opposed to how the layperson uses it. It is often confused.
In science, you aren't waiting for a theory to be proved.. It has been proven. It is not his personal made-up meaning. The title is not sarcastic. Often creationists try to use the argument that evolution is "only a theory" and thus has no proof... That couldn't be more untrue. The book is written for uneducated bums like me.
I'm glad to see you are reading the book, it is one of the best I've ever read. Enjoy :)
There is no "atheist position" on anything... Except that the case for a supreme being or creator is unconvincing. Trying to get atheists to agree on anything else is like herding cats.
do you give thanks for every meal or do you thank god once for the whole day of meals???

?.
I give thanks... To my wife for every meal. That's where they came from
